SEEN by Muka

An intimate portrait experience designed to help you reconnect with the parts of you you've forgotten. To feel safe, supported, and finally, truly seen.

This work is inspired by the many ways femininity exists — soft, powerful, exhausted, sensual, grieving, evolving, joyful, undone, becoming. Through intimate and artistic portraiture, I create a space where you can reconnect with yourself and be seen beyond expectation, performance, or perfection. Whether you are navigating motherhood, loss, change, healing, confidence, identity, or simply a desire to exist more fully in your own story, these sessions are about honouring who you are in this moment. Honest, emotional, feminine imagery that captures not just how you look, but how you feel — and transforms it into art.

"Sarah had truly listened. She understood me. She saw me. And honestly, I felt seen. As women, I think that can be a rare feeling."

The process

STEP ONE: The Reflection

Before you step in front of the camera, we begin with your story. This isn’t a standard checklist—it is a guided, quiet space for you to pause and articulate where you are in your life right now. It is an invitation to explore what you want to celebrate, what you are navigating, and the parts of yourself you are ready to see again. This reflection ensures our time together is intentional and entirely about you.

STEP TWO: The Session

Step into a private space designed for you to drop your guard. The studio is a warm, unhurried sanctuary where you don’t need to know how to pose, what to do, or how to perform. My only goal is to guide you gently, help you exhale, and allow you to feel completely safe while being witnessed. We are not here to perform for the camera; we are here to document the truth of your existence. This is your time to simply exist, exactly as you are.

STEP THREE: The Reveal

The culmination of our time together. We will sit down to view your portraits and see your story translated into honest, beautiful imagery. This is where you decide how you want to preserve this chapter—whether through a fine art album to hold in your hands, or a gallery piece for your walls. A tangible, daily reminder of who you are and the journey that brought you here.

"I felt safe, supported, and free to explore parts of myself that I had kept buried for a long time. She ensured the space felt warm and welcoming, and even had the heated floors going. Throughout the shoot, Sarah guided me with such ease, care and intuition."

The Armour We Wear

Clothing is often the most immediate armour we wear—it signals our daily roles, our boundaries, and how we want the world to perceive us. Part of the SEEN experience is the gentle invitation to lay that armour down.
Stepping out of those layers isn't just about physical rawness. It’s about leaving those external identities behind—the caretaker, the professional, the mother—so there is nothing left to hide behind. It is a transition from performing for the world to simply inhabiting your own skin, exactly as you are.
Instead, we use beautifully curated silks and textiles—not to hide you, but to hold you, moving with your body as a fluid expression of who you are right now.

"Everything I had shared was being translated into visual art in the most beautiful and creative way... The final images felt honest, raw, powerful and beautiful. They reflected parts of me that I'd forgotten, and parts of me that I'm learning to embrace again."

About Sarah

I know what it feels like to be unseen.

For twenty years, I lived a life that felt like it was written by someone else. I navigated the complexities of marriage, the relentless demands of parenting, and the unique, beautiful challenges of raising neurodivergent children—all while running a business and trying to hold everything together. In the process, I slowly lost sight of who I was.

My own journey of transformation—moving through separation, co-parenting, coming out, and eventually finding myself in a deeply loving, authentic relationship—taught me the most vital lesson of my life: when we are truly seen, it changes everything.

It doesn't just change how we look; it changes how we breathe, how we parent, how we love, and how we exist in the world. When you feel seen, that light floods into every corner of your life.

I created SEEN by Muka because I know how easy it is to put our own stories on the back burner. We are so busy holding space for everyone else that we forget to hold space for ourselves. I am here to hold that space for you. Whether you are navigating healing, identity, change, or simply a desire to remember who you are, I invite you to step into the sanctuary of the studio.

Let’s stop performing for the world and start honouring who you are right now.
