The most common statement I hear at the beginning of my booking process is “We don’t know what we are doing, we are going to be so awkward in front of the camera”. I had some headshots taken a few weeks back and it was a great refresher into exactly what that statement means and how it feels. I found the process of being photographed a little harder than I expected, kind of exposing … and maybe even a little confronting. Why? I guess we live in a world now where we see images every minute across social media that have been whispering in our ear about how we should be, how we should look, how we should behave. This uncomfortable feeling started long before social media though, so where does it come from?

I want to take all that away from you. All those thoughts. It just simply doesn’t matter.
What does matter (more than anything) is you, exactly who you are and who you love. Let me capture the images to remind you of that. That is what I do. I don’t need you to be anything that you are not. I just want you to turn up, forget the world for an hour and be utterly present with your favourite people.

It seems so simple. But I know it’s asking a lot.
